Pick Yourself Up by Eating These Healthy Snacks

Eating healthy snacks is an important factor if you want to have a productive day at work. While sugary snacks and drinks do provide a quick boost of energy, it doesn’t take long for that energy to burn out, leaving you groggy and unmotivated. On the other hand, healthier foods provide you with energy that actually lasts throughout the day.

Pick yourself up by packing these healthy foods when you go to work in the morning.

Fruit & Yogurt

If you need a quick pick-me-up during work, consider bringing some fruit with you into the office. Apples, grapes, bananas, oranges, and other fruits are high in fiber and Vitamin C, and are low in calories, so they offer many health benefits. Dried fruit is also a good option since the nutrients are more condensed with the removal of water.

If you plan on bringing fruit with you to work, consider bringing Greek yogurt, too. Many people eat Greek yogurt with apples, grapes and other fruits since they find the mix of tastes satisfying.

Air-Popped Popcorn

Popcorn isn’t just a snack you can have while enjoying a movie. Plain, air-popped popcorn is high in fiber and low in calories, making it a great snack to have in the office. Simply take the kernels to the microwave in your breakroom and you’ve got a nice snack.

You can choose to take a regular sized bag with you to work, or you can purchase single-serving sizes. If you want to add some flavor to your popcorn, just pack some seasonings with you, like Parmesan cheese or cinnamon. Just don’t add melted butter to it, since that will add a lot of calories.


Though seeds are primarily used for planting, many of them are edible. Seeds have lots of protein and fiber, and contain helpful antioxidants. They can even reduce your cholesterol and blood pressure, making them prime choices for a healthy diet.

Good options include pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, and sesame seeds.

Granola Bars

Granola bars are considered extremely healthy snacks, thanks in part to the mix of granola, honey, and dried fruits. The fiber found in these bars helps to reduce cholesterol, and they also offer plenty of Vitamin E. Granola bars come in many shapes and sizes, so check out your local store to see which ones are on sale.

Be careful about what bars you buy, however, because some bars offer less health benefits than others. Steer clear of any granola bars with chocolate, caramel, or other sweet things. They typically have a lot more sugar and calories, and are significantly less healthy as a result.

Dark Chocolate

This one might come as a bit of a surprise to you. It’s hard to deny that a lot of people like to have a sweet snack to eat during a busy work day. If you really want to bring some kind of chocolate with you to work, dark chocolate is your best option.

Unlike traditional milk chocolate, dark chocolate has less fat and sugar. In addition, this chocolate is made with several antioxidants, and can even lower stress hormones. As a result, it can actually help you keep calm if you are stressed.
